HOLIDAYS TAKEN IN TERM TIME

Due to a change in legislation, schools are unable to authorise any leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

We understand that, occasionally, families will take a holiday during the school year and on these occasiions we ask for a transparent and honest approach.  Attempting to conceal a holiday through illness, for example, puts unfair pressure on the child(ren) to lie to adults in schools.

Where a request is denied and a holiday is taken within term time, the absences will be marked as unauthorised. if your child is then subsequently absent on any of the dates requested, the Educational Welfare Service may be informed, in line with school policy, and they may take further action.  This could include a Penalty Notice or prosecution.

Should it be necessary for you to request leave, please contact the school office for the requisite form or download one from the link below. If a request applies to Signhills Infant Academy, please submit the forms at the same time so that the schools can liase and respond in a consistant manner.
